Ikigai

Loosely translated, Ikigai means “reason to be”, and it was in knitting that Mariana Soares found hers, in an artisanal and traditional technique, without waste.

In a world that thrives on the disposable, Mariana wanted to find a way to produce clothing that respects the planet: environmentally friendly and without waste.

Her passion for hand knitting goes back to her childhood, to memories of wearing handmade sweaters knitted by her grandmother and mother and the feeling of the home comfort that came from wearing the pieces.

It is this feeling that Ikigai tries to transmit with her pieces, carefully knitted in Mariana’s atelier, with yarns produced in Portugal and Ecofriendly certified.
